CLIENTS AND IMPACT
WSG Works With A Variety of Clients To Deliver Customized Solutions
WSG is proud to work with a wide variety of dynamic organizations, including the Environmental Defense Fund, Bridge Builders Community Foundation, Quanitbly, Indonesian Rhino Initiative, and others. Check out some highlights of recent projects below.
Reimagining Volunteering
How do you reimagine volunteering? You start with understanding the market.
Volunteering is an amazing thing, but it remains an area of unharnessed potential, replete with missed opportunities to build connections across social groups. WSG worked with the We Initiative Foundation to review the market and determine reasons why volunteering participation was falling overall amongst all groups and why shifting opinions were causing younger generations to not volunteer at all.
WSG delivered an assessment that laid out the communications challenges that were proliferating amongst most nonprofits and the lack of connection across social groups.
We helped design a new strategy of outreach, recruitment and communication that formed the basis of their new volunteering platform.
Project Impact
With the research and strategy reports from WSG, the We Initiative Foundation was able to launch Volunteer Circles a new platform that enabled nonprofits to open up communication, eliminate silos, and create a better experience for their volunteers.
Envisioning the Future of a Rural Community
WSG partnered with the Bridge Builders Community Foundation to perform a community assessment of two rural communities to plan for future grantmaking of legacy donation.
The Bridge Builders Community Foundation had received a generous bequest from a couple to support a rural area that has a rich history but an uncertain future. The fund could continue to support some great events like a Christmas Village during the holiday season and a park that features new playground equipment, but Bridge Builders wanted to do more to help this community thrive.
WSG was contracted to provide a community assessment to determine how this area could build on its past to create a strong future for its current residents and attract others to this beautiful area full of natural resources. We interviewed community leaders, residents, nonprofits serving the region, and even students to understand the current perceptions, needs and gaps in services, and future outlook.
We uncovered a lot of good, some bad, and plenty of overlooked opportunities. We presented Bridge Builders with an assessment that looked at a variety of potential projects, ways to expand on events and creatively bring forward its history, and maybe most importantly define a significant communications problem and presented some possible solutions.
Project Impact
Bridge Builders can utilize the data captured to guide its grantmaking to carryout the wishes of the donor. They can undertake small, strategic projects, plan for and fund larger, long-term projects, and even have the tools to leverage other funding sources in combination with this fund.
WSG will stay involved in the implementation of projects based on the assessment and we look forward to assisting these communities as they chart a path forward strategically and help their residents thrive.
Connecting Corporations with their Local Veteran Farmers.
WSG worked with the Pennsylvania Veteran Farmers Network on a unique place-based advertising campaign to bring awareness to veteran owned farms in the Commonwealth.
Pennsylvania Veteran Farmers Network is a collection of more than thirty veteran-owned and operated farms across the state. They had just built a new website that would help the general public find farms close to where they live or were traveling to as they traverse Pennsylvania. There was a plethora of yummy treats, local produce, and even drinks to raise adult’s spirit. The question was how to get people to this resource without a large budget.
WSG suggested they work with corporations to help them increase their presence. It was a unique fundraising ask. Instead of monetary donations from the philanthropic activities of these corporations, PA Vet Farms instead would ask for in-kind donation of advertising space in retail outlets, amusement parks, and other locations with potential visitors.
WSG created and produced all of the advertising materials, including, signs, tent cards, and other items. We partnered with a veteran-owned printer! We also created the list of prospects and developed all of the messaging.
Lastly, we created a QR code that when scanned would open a Google map and drop. a pin for your location and show you the pins for the closest farms in proximity.
Project Impact
The entire project was accomplished with a minimum of budget and piloted this year with success. Traffic increased to the website and we could also track and measure based on the usage of the QR code. PA Vet Farms can expand this program to more locations and corporate partners in 2024.
